Sean M. Poole, a free-lance writer and traveling showman, discovered a cache of Gattorno’s lifework – oil paintings, watercolors, ceramics and furniture - (including three dated, numbered copies of the Hemingway monograph) in a cottage in Acushnet, Massachusetts in 1994. His obsession with the life and works of this enigmatic Cuban artist led to a decade of research, and resulted in “Gattorno: A Cuban Painter For The World.”
