Born in small city in Vermont; attended high school in New Hampshire. Served four years in U.S. Navy during early days of Vietnam war. Inspired as undergraduate student of Thomas Williams to write fiction. Published essays and short stories before first novel came out in September 2001 (coinciding with attacks on World Trade Center and Pentagon; good timing, eh?) Retired from St. Paul's School as teacher of thirty-four years and spent all time writing novels. Published second novel, Where You Are, in July 2009. Gemini's Blood followed in September.
